Redska

Redska There's a lot to say about an album that creates such beautiful and emotional tracks out of very little. By far one of my favorite albums in a long, LONG time. From cohesiveness to the slow and soft sounds this all builds up to be one of the best I've heard in a long time. Favorite track: Cass.
Daniel Stewart

Daniel Stewart This is a treasure of an album. The subtlety and minimalism with which each song is suffused helps create one of the most atmospheric albums I've ever come across; as if, upon listening, I've been transported to the place depicted in the art work. This is a masterful debut. Favorite track: Lost Kids Three Lakes.
Liance
Liance thumbnail
Liance I can't believe this is a debut album. So many images go through my mind when I listen to it... Midwestern winters, friends' houses, heartbreak, snowy mountains, long trips. Listen to this album if you like Volcano Choir, múm or Youth Lagoon. Favorite track: House Fire.

A cradle of all creation walked slow to the gas station and it laughed while it drew inward and its hull heaved and began to splinter The ice age that you fought off with furnacing ribcage caught fire and glowed long after the snow did creak and now thaws when it turns Hung your spark between dim and blackening Felt the street in arcs, felt like quivering Silent syllables inhospitable Bound outside the door, laughing calendar City furrowed deep, cast and covering Propagating arms polycoloring Fifteen seventeen far-flung evergreen You in fullest root, you in greatest leaves

House Fire 04:05
I once threw my family to the wolves before Christmas in a loveless loss of grip beyond eyeshot with not a dead leaf left unburned. My stripes earned, but I'm not bound to wear them so soon. It spins so far so I'll depart. Los Alamos, New Mexico. Set fire to my rafters, I don't need them anymore. I'll endure perched above my bedroom 'til it skips across the backyard. I know this place better than a fire can. If I don't burn out I'll crash-land. I'm not alone in here, I haven't been in years. My hands are circuit-switched. I've never seen it quite like this. I'm lost telephony, was blind and still will be. My hands are circuit-switched. I've never seen it like this. Black sands, black falls, my curtain call.

Flutter 03:50
We traded Babel for the sun and cut our tongues on every rung. All our burial words sent out like sleds foundered under drift ice endless dark and dead. I only see you when you bend like lightning, I only hear you when you tear the pavement. We move in gusts above the troubled water, we only span the narrows when we sleep. I know now all fingers are failures. They lose all their charge at the prints and they wrestle their capstans to bits. I speak, I spin out permanent shedding. I stay up and I let the tape run. I wait but the end never comes.

I'm convinced that all of the hours we lose to the winter all gather somewhere safe from boots other than mine. I've left parts there; I've laid all the wire and tracks from the tires won't turn me in. They're buried unremembered whenever I need them to be. I'll slip through the trees with withering things to keep safe in my sleeves. The walls that can't stay and families and hills and the hearth that went cold when your insides decayed. I'll knot them to every tuneless joyful song and I'm never going to let them thaw.

Now be steady, changing light. Go and set where you are called. Some kind of love is twisting forms. Pale sunlight, pale the wall. A stillness settles into your bed and lowers the clouds; a touch of tenuous breathing and I pull my arms to my sides and drift over the ground. But do I quell your hushing mouth? What striding din dulled your teeth? Bury all the live ones where they sleep, strangle like you've never known defeat, you menacing white bringer of all ends--I should not be allowed to call you friend! Be bolder or grow colder, do you hear me? Are you sleeping?

Endful 04:20
"Now pick up your clay, go press it in angles and rows. While my back is broad, it's viciously overexposed. Ungathered man, your gripping will never grow in. It's not in fists; it's more like between stumbled limbs." My heels stay nipped. I falter in my steps. All words unwrit. I resign my authorship. The dark's floodlit and cleared of fingerprints. I'm full of loss and pledged to it.
